If god can only grant us one wish, a majority group of us will probably wish for a hot, well toned body. Perhaps that of Ryan Gosling or Megan Fox?  One of us here at ADL was so desperate to achieve a hot and sexy body (he’s a guy btw) that he’ve been humming LMFAO’s “I’m sexy and I know it” song everyday! As the saying goes, actions speaks louder than words. Even though he is sexy (something that only he knows and no one else can attest to) he still decide to purchase a GrouponBeeconomic deal to enhance his “sexiness”. Check out his experience below!

>>> GrouponBeeconomic$28 for 8 Gym Passes + Four 30 min Personal Fitness Sessions + One Health Assessment at Physical ABuse in Clarke Quay (Worth $540). Option of 12 Gym Passes and 60 min Fitness Sessions Available. <<<

I’m sexy and I know it… OK. I got it. I shall not hum the song any further. But I must that I really got sexier after redeeming this deal! This deal was first published in early February 2012. I bought this deal on 19th February 2012. Subsequently, I called Physical ABuse to make an appointment for my fitness sessions and health assessment. I was told to leave down my contact number so that an instructor can contact me. True enough, within 3 working days, an instructor called me. We discussed over the phone, selected a date for my first session with him. As I’ve bought this deal with a friend of mine, both of us actually wanted to have our fitness sessions together. However, according to staff at Physical ABuse, all the fitness sessions are supposed to be one on one so that the instructor can focus and develop the best training regime suited for that particular indivdual. As such, my friend had to made her own appointments with another instructor.

As I’ve never been to Physical ABuse before, I went about googling how to get there. Thank god for gothere.sg, I found out that Physical ABuse is located near Clarke Quay area. I took a train to Clarke Quay MRT, exited Exit B, cross a bridge, and reached my destination.

Exit B at Clarke Quay MRT station

After exiting Exit B, go up the escalator

Cross the bridge

After coming down from the bridge, turn left and walk through this corridor

After walking for about 50 metres, there will be a glass door on the left. Physical ABuse is located inside this building.

The first session began with the health asessment, which probably lasted about 20min to 30min. I was told to stand on a super cool machine whereby my weight, height, BMI, fats percentage etc will be calculated automatically. Following that, my instructor explained to me what is my current body condition like. He also questioned about my fitness goals, what kind of sports I usually do etc. All these were asked so that he can develop a customized exercise regime for me. After some explanation, he also went on to clarify that fitness and health is something that cannot be achieved in the short term, or in four fitness session for that matter. As such, it will be best for me to sign on some package with him after the four fitness session. He explained to me the kind of fitness programs he provides, and also the respective cost. I must say that the cost is really not cheap. As much as I wish to workout regularly and be “sexy”, the price is really beyond my budget :x I explained that to my instructor, and he told me nicely  to take my time to think and consider before giving him an answer at the last fitness session with him. He did not try to “hard sell” me, and I thought that was really professional of him. Following that, we went on to have my first fitness session.

Initially, I thought that I will be able to choose the fitness program I want, as the deal stated that one can choose between 6 fitness program option (kicking boxing, TRX suspension training, vibration training, weights training, functional training, pre and post natal training). However, I wasn’t really given a choice at all. My fitness regime was actually decided by my instructor. I did not have much issue with this arrangement as I believe that after the health assessment, the instructor will know which kind of fitness program most suits me.

Overall, one word can be used to describe the four fitness sessions that I had with my instructor – “SHAG!”. To be honest, I’ve really never felt so exhausted before! Each fitness session will first begin with a 10min slow jog on the treadmill. After that there will be a 2 to 3 cycles which will consist of different combinations weights exercise, TRX exercises,  and short sprints on the treadmill. There are no rest in between, and it is really just 30min of hardcore exercising. It was SUPER INTENSE. Sometimes, I got so tired that I cannot think straight, and can’t recall which exercise to do next even though I’ve completed the cycle before! A apt saying in this context here will definitely be the army saying “Shag cannot think”.

Instructor: "12 reps of bicep curls lets go!"

Normally, after each fitness session, my instructor will arrange the time and date for the next session with me. I must say most of the time he is not really that flexible in a sense that he will place other client’s interest as priority first before me.  As the other clients have paid lots of money for training with him, whereas I’ve only paid $28, I am not complaining much here.

On top of the fitness sessions and health assessment, this deal also entails me to 8 gym passes. Meaning to say, I am able to access Physical ABuse and use its facilities 8 times for free! I was issued a temporary pass in which the staff there will record down the date of my gym session after each gym session.

The facilities of the gym is really good. I was given towels, both big and small upon passing my temporary pass to the counter. A key to a locker will also be given. The lockers are all located in the toilet which is really clean with proper bathing facilities. Soap and shampoo are also provided too.

Clean toilet with lockers!

The facilities of the gym is also very good with a wide range of equipments. I shall let the pictures do the talking here :)

Overall, I must say that I am very satisfied with this deal. Even though there was a tiny bit of hard selling involved to sign on additional packages, I was never heavily pressurized or treated badly. In fact, even after explaining that I will most probably not take on additional packages, my instructor still put in his utmost effort to train me. Sometimes, he even exceed the stipulated time of 30min. Very professional indeed.

Even though I was literally “physically abused” after the fitness sessions with all the aching and pains,  I must say that I still find the fitness sessions very fulfilling and rewarding. Other than learning the correct proper body posture and technique involved in doing each exercise, I also learn from my instructor new exercises to workout different kinds of muscle groups. All these knowledge will definitely be of use to me when I visit the gym in the future.

Furthermore, as shown from the pictures above, the gym is really good with clean facilities and a wide range of equipments.  Of course, it is not as big as those mega gyms such as California Fitness or True Fitness. However, it is really cozy. An ideal place to workout, and unwind in my opinion.  Not to mention, the place is easily accessible too. If there is a similar deal by Physical ABuse in the future, I will definitely recommend it to my friends :)
