With many different kinds of deal around today, there are bound to have deals that attract you. But there are also others which many may not be interested in. A little clue here.. It is about our all time favourite FOOD! But this cuisine may not be that popular, however if you love it, you would definitely not want to miss this deal!

$10 instead of $20? That’s about 50% discount off! We are going for some Authentic Peranakan Cuisine today! There’s a wide variety of over 40 dishes to choose from. According to the terms & conditions, the first catch here is that the voucher you are buying in this deal is excluding GST and Service Charge. Meaning to say, what ever you had at the restaurant, the addition GST and service charge will to be paid to the merchant directly.
Next, Let’s take a look at the dishes and compare the original prices. According to Baba King Website, you get to choose from a wide variety of food such as Poultry & Meats, Fish, Seafood, Sides & Soups, Vegetables, Pernanakan Pasta & Rice Bowls, Nonya Dessert. Let’s take a dish from each category and list down the original price.
For the full menu, you can refer to their official website.
Therefore, for a voucher of $10 instead of $20, say there are two of you patronizing this restaurant, you will have $40 worth of voucher. This will probably allow you to purchase approximately 3 dishes with 2 desserts. However, as stated in the terms & conditions a maximum of 10 coupons can be used in a single receipt. Hence, if you are going in a group of 4 or 5 people, you can actually enjoy a ‘full-course meal’ (which includes all the items listed in the table above) at a cheaper price!
Note that these prices are excluding GST and Service charge as well. Therefore let’s say we order a list of food from the table above, the total price would be:
$13.90 + $12.50 + $12.90 + $9.90 + $6.20 + $3.50 = $58.90
10% Service Charge:
$58.90 x 0.1 = $5.89
$58.90 + $5.89 = $64.79
$64.79 x 0.07 = $4.53
$64.79 + $4.53 = $69.32
In this case, it would be ideal to purchase 3 vouchers:
Deal price: $10 x 3 = $30
Total voucher worth of $60
Total additional price to be paid = $69.32 – $60 = $9.32
Total amount spent = $30 + $9.32 = $39.32
Total savings = $69.32 – $39.32 = $30
Total savings percentage = $30 / $69.32 x 100 = 43.3%
* please note that the above calculation are based our assumption that we ordered the food listed in the table above. Nonetheless, if you are interested to find out the total savings you will be able to obtain, the calculation method is the same.
WHAT ADL SAYS:
Sounds good isn’t it? The price is definitely worth it here. Next, let’s take a look at other terms & conditions. It is mentioned that the voucher can only be used on Monday to Friday (dinner only). A check on Baba King’s website, their opening hours on weekdays is from 11:30am – 8:30pm. The closing time is pretty early as compared to other restaurant. Therefore if you wish to patronize this restaurant, do take note of the closing time.
One particular thing we like about this deal is that it is open for lunch & dinner on Public Holidays & Saturday. Their operating hours on Public Holidays & Saturdays is from 11:30am – 3:00pm & 5:30pm – 9:00pm. Do note of the break in between as well that they are not open from 3:00pm – 5.30pm. And they are closed on Sundays.
Next on the validity, voucher is valid until 31 May 2012. That is consider alright in our opinion for you have about 2 months plus to redeem the voucher.
Lastly, on the location of this restaurant it is located at 1 Changi Business Park. The nearest mrt is Expo station and the location may be walking distance from the station. However, it may be a little too far especially to those not living on East side of Singapore. To travel all the way down for Peranakan Cuisine, will you do that?
Therefore this brings on the question of: Is this deal attractive to you?
You definitely get to save a substantial amount of saving by purchasing this deal; however will you choose to purchase this kind of deal?
