I believed that many of you would have guessed what this deal is going to be with the countless Bangkok deal that we have reviewed on. Follow us for an adventure to Bangkok!

  • 2 nights accomodation (superior room) at Ecotel Bangkok Hotel

Let’s do a check with CompareHotel.com.sg on the prices should you choose to make the booking on your own.

Assuming you are travelling over a weekend from 15 June (Friday) – 17 June (Sunday) for 3D2N stay.

With reference from the table above, the cheapest price we get is at $94.44. And this price is for 2 pax. Thus for one pax the price you have to pay is $94.44/2 = $47.22.

Notice that should you choose to purchase from this deal, the price at $97.50 is only for 1 pax. Thus you are actually paying $97.50 – $47.22 = $50.28 more for it?!? Let’s then take a look at what’s included in the package which is a 2 –way airport transfer. As personally I’ve stayed at Ecotel Bangkok Hotel before, for a trip from the airport to the hotel it would cost you about 350 baht (including all the toll charge) which is equivalent to about S$14.58. [A little tip here: When you arrive at BKK airport, take one escalator and look for the sign for “Taxi-meter” for reliable taxi]. A 2-way transfer would cost you about $29.16. And since this a minimum 2 to go deal, the cost for the transfer will be shared with 2 people minimum. Thus one person would have to pay about S$14.58. Adding this up the hotel room the total you have to pay would be $47.22 + $14.58 = $61.80.

Now comparing this price to what this deal is offering:

$97.50 – $61.80 = $35.70

You are still paying $35.70 more?!

Small but clean and new room

WHAT ADL SAYS:

With all the calculation and research, this deal doesn’t seem to be the one you should be getting for you are paying more for what you should get!

After reviewing on various Bangkok deals, I’ve realised that most worthy deals are actually those with hotels that are situated far away from the central district which is the Pratunam area. For hotel like the Ecotal Bangkok Hotel which is situated nearer to the central district, the deals are usually not worth paying. But I could be wrong here, this is just my opinion. No matter which deal you are getting, you should go on to do some research for it.

Next on the review for this hotel, personally I’ve stayed at this hotel before in 2011. We went in a group of 3 and I remembered that we are too early for the check-in time. The hotel staff there are friendly and advice us to leave our bags at their lobby and come back later for the check-in. The room are pretty clean and new however it is quite small for the three of us especially after the first day with all our shopping hoots!

Left our luggage at the hotel lobby before check-in

First day- Bed full of our shopping hoots!

As for the accessibility  of the hotel, it is situated about a 15min walk from the Pratunum market. Hence, every morning we would have to spend 15 minutes walking to the market. It felt ok on the first two days, but when coming back to the hotel at night, we will usually take the tuk tuk or taxi as we all too tired from walking the whole day.  On top of that, we had to keep a look out for the direction as some of the driver doesn’t know the location of the hotel. [Tip: always bring along a map with addresses in thai].

The breakfast at the hotel was passable. The variety is limited and they served the same dish everyday. We got sick of the breakfast on the third day and decided to head out for breakfast for the next two days. But I have to mention that the massage just right beside the hotel is awesome. We went for their foot massage on our last day and it felt like heaven to us! Probably that’s because our legs are tired from all the walking and shopping for the past few days. :P

Buffet breakfast at the hotel

Overall, this hotel is quite a decent place to stay at for its clean room and service. However its location is really not that accessible. Of course, if you don’t mind the walking, by all means consider this hotel for your next Bangkok trip!

As for this deal by Whee! our overall conclusion is for you to make your own bookings instead of purchasing  this deal as you are paying more for what you should get!

PS: Do note that our above conclusion is based on the assumption that one is travelling between 15 June (Friday) to 17 June (Sunday). For other travelling dates, rates may differ, and a different conclusion may arise. Hence, we recommend you to do the price check (like how we did it above) before deciding whether to purchase this deal or not.
